Advanced Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management
Students will be exposed to fundamental business, tourism & hospitality concepts. Students will be trained to develop higher-level skills in managing organizations in the tourism and hospitality industry. This prepares them in key aspects of business management with special focus in related knowledge and core skills.
The Advanced Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management awarded by the City Metropolitan College aims to focus on the latest development in the hospitality and tourism industry. It will help students identify and understand the techniques and theories widely used in the hospitality and tourism environment. Students are given emphasis on developing professional hotel competencies such as effective communication skills, good customer service skills, leadership, team work and other relevant professional topics in the hospitality and tourism industry.
This programme aims to help students to develop a critical understanding of management in the context of hospitality industry. This qualification builds on the skills and knowledge from Diploma of Hospitality Management to further develop your understanding in the areas of Accounting , HR, Event Management and Destination Management
The programme consists of 6 modules:

Advanced Theories of Accounting and Marketing in Hospitality and Tourism This module will give students the knowledge, skills and techniques that we essential in the management decision making process. Students will be taught the processes and practices that take place within a hotel business environment, the analytical skills required to understand accounting and financial information. Financial information will be used to analyze marketing strategies that are useful in hospitality and tourism industries.
Human Resource ManagementThis course facilitates an understanding in the policies, procedures, and systems required to attract, select, develop and retain quality employees. Students learn about the major environmental factors that affect the HR function, including legislation, economics, and demographics. The course emphasizes human resource issues in the hospitality industry.
Tourism and Event Management This module offers an overview of the tourism industry. It explores the inner workings of various components of lodging, food service and travel organizations, it also encompasses an introduction to the concepts of event planning and management. Students are exposed to the key areas required for staging an event.
Tourism Destination Management This course will discuss various approaches in tourism destination development. It will provide an overview of the methods to ensure long-term viability and sustainability of the tourism industry. In addition, participants will learn core marketing concepts crucial to destination management.
Research in Hospitality and Tourism Planning Research in Hospitality and Tourism provides a concise and clear approach to planning research projects which are a necessity in most hospitality and tourism courses. This module also considers the particular characteristics of the hospitality and tourism industry, whilst providing a balanced approach toward both quantitative and qualitative methods of research.
Graduation Project The student will need to work with their lecturer to complete their graduation project.

For study advancement, students may consider progressing to a degree course of relevant discipline offered by other Institutions/Universities subject to their acceptance at point of application.
Minimum Age: 19 Year Old
Successful completion of a Polytechnic Diploma in any field or equivalent
Language ProficiencyObtained at least C6 in GCE 'O' Level English or equivalent
